The Labour Party won the 2005 UK general election with 35.3% of the popular British vote. The Conservative Party was just a few points behind with points behind at 32.3% of the popular vote, but because of the first past the post voting system, the Labour Party had a significant majority with 356 parliamentary seats […]

My vote this time is strongly swinging towards UKIP. I’ve lost faith in Labour, that is since 2005. The Conservatives can’t be trusted. Liberal Democrats have a few good policies however they are Euro fanatics! I look at UKIP’s policies and if you take time to read them they are very good! They want to strengthen our Borders, they want to pull out of the EU due to 75% of our laws being decided by them and not only that we pay EU billions of pounds a year! For what may I ask? We should be an independant country like Austrailia. Their immigration system is top class! You should all seriously look at their policies and take time to read them. They do make sense!

Taking note from the comment made under “everyone wants change don’t they”. I also agree that a lot of the change needed, stems not only from the PM but hugely from the people. So many people have so much to say and never speak out. I am surrounded by people who always unite and get what they want and majority are not British nationals. The problem is these MP’s are talking to the wrong people those who cannot be bothered to get jobs who prefer to stay at home creating lifes ie ‘Tower of Commons’. When theres people like me prepared to work anything to provide for the family and get very little recognition, and the funny thing is I’d be better off financially on benefits!!!

Why do people who choose not to work or show no interest in the UK itself get awarded pay? (benefits). Yet people work all their lifes to be made redundant and then be put on poxy JSA. With no great deal of support at all.
Dear all,
I don’t like politics but as a citizen of the contry I found Gordon Brown is a honest and hard working person. To be honest he did not get much chance to drive the country and so many thing happend in his time. He deserved to lead the country in normal condition as we stand today. Cameroon is good in speech but not to drive the nation. To tell to people and be practical is vast diffirent.
Gordon Brown should get one more term in PM would be better for the country.
I am sure many of will be agreed with me and will vote for Gordon Brown.

i dont agree, and he wont be getting my vote, brown is not the man to run our country, add the letter ” i” to run and you have it “, i hope the country wont AGREED with you either.
I will be voting for Labour, I dread the thought of a Tory Government who only think of number one. Thatcher said that there was no such thing as society, that meant that no one should think of their neighbor. They should pass by one the other side as long as they were ok. Thatcher is Cameron’s hero, so remember what she did to the working man and vote Labour.

David,
You are a fool. It is because of people like you that our country is in the state it is. Without a royal family (persons who happen to have been conditioned in ways of ruling a country for centuries), we have no tourism. We are one of the only countries with a royal family – the day we lose that is the day we are no longer England. If you opened yours eyes to realise that the royal family do very little except retaining the power to veto and approve new bills as laws because Parliament has taken over as the dominant body within the country. Have you not noticed that Labour is full of empty promises? Sure you may technological advances, whoopee, let’s all go and have a party with some fat cake! The tories at least try to preserve moral standards. Thatcher understood the system and strived to keep Britain great but unfortunately was too exclusionary in some of her policies – hence the strikes. Going back to monarchy, how long is it going to take before we become institutionalised like America, with no monarchy? Not very long, hence my view that the monarchy and, more importantly, the representatives in the House of Lords need a voice.

Will, I’m afraid it is you who is foolish.
I’m not religious, but isn’t “All men (people) are equal” one of the core ideals of Christianity?
And the notion that without the Royal Family we will have no tourism is preposterous! Try telling that to America, France, Italy, Mexico etc. etc. And in any case, royal families are not so rare as you seem to believe. The Netherlands has one, so does Sweden, Spain, Thailand etc. etc.
In any case, the fact that we revere a family simply because they are royal is abhorrent. What they stand for is systemised inequality which slaps fairness in the face and holds back this nation from evolving into a better place for all.

Labour are a hopeless so called government and the sooner the tories are in the better!!
I will be voting for Labour, hopefully along with all minimum wage earners (the tories voted against this).Pensioners who will lose all concessions earned under Labour if the Tories get in.Now we know that the Tories to get rid of the NI rise they will save 6million when people leave their jobs they will set no one back what if no one leaves then what????????

Good point there Alan, there is also the problem that who will do the work of those who leave? The one’s that are left are going to be overworked and will get more and more behind with their work load. There are enough problems with waiting lists for such things as tax credits to name but one.
