Why do the main stream commentators rubbish our, admittedly sudden, conversion to the LibDems and Nick Clegg, and our apparent none interest in policies.
With the economy the way it is, there is only one policy that matters a jot, the “When, Where and How” of the spending cuts and tax rises that will be needed to reduce the deficit.
I understand why none of the parties can talk about this area of the policy making, as all the evidence is that we will turn against those that are honest with us.
But why then denigrate our choosing who to vote for on the more ephemeral point of who do we like/trust.
I don’t trust Gordon Brown to make the cuts needed and I don’t trust David Cameron to make fair cuts (his one tax giveaway – inheritance tax does nothing for me or mine and only advantages a few at the top).
But I may not know where or how the LibDems are going to make the cuts. But I trust Nick Clegg and Vince Cable to at least make the cuts and tax rises as fair as they can be.
