According to the UK Independence Party website UKIP will try to achieve the following if they gain power at the 2010 general election:
Thought Crimes and Hate Speech. UKIP supports freedom of speech. All view points should be heard provided they do not call for crime, violence or the overthrow of democracy.
UKIP would repeal laws that criminalise opinion and belief, and would instead focus police attention on actual crimes, not political ones.
I would be interested to hear both positive and negative views on UK Independence Party’s Thought Crimes and Hate Speech policies in the comments below?
This is one of my biggest, if not the biggest problem I have with the establishment. In today’s society, you cannot say what you want to say for fear of ending up on the wrong side of the law.
Freedom of speech is seriously jeopardised in the UK because of fascist political correctness. In a truly democratic society, everyone should have that fundamental human right to free speech. There should be no such thing as thought crime – the very idea of such a thing even existing is abhorrent and has no place in the 21st Century. In addition, as long as no physical harm is done, people should be able to say what they please. This policy of UKIP is essential to a country that wishes to be referred to as a “democracy” and it is a sad fact that our incompetent government does not agree.
“I may not agree with what you have to say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.”

I don’t trust you guys but you have my vote.
You are the only hope of restoring freedom of speech and stopping gang rape.
I’d vote for Satan to protect my daughter.
“As long as no physical harm is done” – does this mean incitement of physical harm too? Or just the commitment of physical harm? In the case of the latter this would obviously decriminalise virtually all advocacy of violent political or religious extremism. Nazism and the advocation of genocide would not be a crime. Nor would the support for radical Islamic extremism. It seems like this policy would fail to satisfy a lot of UKIP voters’ actual aims.
Doesn't this Policy Decriminalise Religious Extremism, Fascism and Nazism?
