We should consider our existing and underused assets as part of an efficient defense policy.
There should be a review of territories, bases and existing hardware starting I think with reviewing the current capabilities of the Typhoons which we know are know are being fielded without all the trimmings. A pattern of buying potential and then taking delivery of the most basic credible model is an awful habit that needs breaking.
I think recognising that Dhekelia with Typhoons in Cyprus has more potential than Daring, and Akrotiri with Tornados has as much potential as a supercarrier would be a start.
The number of ships UKIP plans to have is sensible and reachable. We must ensure we use the assets we have more efficiently.
