Comment on Reasons to Vote British National Party : BNP 2010 General Election by David.

Could any BNP supporters explain to me the relationship (historical and present) of the BNP and terms like Combat 18 and 88?

For those not familiar with these terms:

Combat 18 (or C18) is the “armed wing” of the far right British neo-Nazi organisation Blood & Honour. Combat 18’s involvement has been suspected in numerous deaths of immigrants, non-whites and other members involved in a bloody civil war inside the group. The “18” in its name is commonly used by neo-Nazi groups, and is derived from the initials of Adolf Hitler; A and H are the first and eighth letters of the Latin alphabet. Members of Combat 18 are barred from joining the British Prison Service and the Police.

And 88

Eighty-eight is used as code among Neo-Nazis to identify each other. H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so 88 is taken to stand for HH which in turn means Heil Hitler. For example, the number is used in the song “88 rock’n’roll band” by the neo-Nazi group Landser. The late convicted Order terrorist David Lane wrote “Fourteen Words” and 88 Precepts, and the numbers are often found in combination (1488, 14/88, etc.). This form of the number has inspired the naming of the groups Column 88, Unit 88, and White Legion 88.

Why would a “Former BNP chief helps police crack secret codes of far right” as described in the article

Could someone explain past (clearly there are past links) and current links between the BNP and these terms?

David
