Tories have posters all over the country stating that the Labour government has increased the gap between the rich and the poor. In the 80’s my father had an accident at work that left him in a wheelchair. At the time my mother was a housewife looking after 4 children under 10. Neither had any qualifications – they were unemployable. Tories gave our family a pittance each week to survive on. When labour were voted in, they supported my mother through a social work degree by giving her a student loan despite the fact she was a mature student with no previous qualifications. Three motnhs after she graduated, she got a job with the local council, and has been there ever since, paying back her debt. Labour have very good to our family.
