If you believe what you read in the newspapers then non of the parties have any “original” ideas, most of them are tried and failed policies of the past or ones that have not been thought through properly as to how they are going to affect people in real life rather than those with money or living in London.

If only the people of the UK could pick and choose the selection of policies from each party and be able to vote on them ourselves rather than voting in someone that is supposed to represent us then find they then vote the way their party whip tells them to rather than what their constituants want from them.

For those that cannot remember back in the early eighties, I was one of those left university and looking for a job, working part time 3 nights a week in a local pub. I was getting a reduced unemployment benefit to cover the days I did not work, this was cut to nothing as they changed to rules to say 3 nights a week was now a full working week.

People complain about mortgage interest rates but mid to end of the eighties the interest rate on my first mortgage went up and up to over 12% because of the financial problems of the country.
