i love you and train
i thnk it is cruscial that police officers should carry guns. but not all police officers, certain officers with more aquairable tranig. also with the current cuts that are axing some major police officers jobs then i think that it is best interest that the fewer police officers should be able to carry a firearm. mainly because they will be up against crime in fewer numbers. it can also quote that if a police officer were to cary a firearm the concept of the firearm could generate a fear factor of suspects running away.

i think that police should be required to carry a firearm, the fact that the police aren’t allowed to carry firearms because civilians don’t want to expand the flow of firearms is ridiculous, the flow of weapons throughout Britain is not determined on whether the police carry them or not, if the police did carry them then our communities would be a lot safer, after sufficient training and rigorous routine simulations the police would have the necessary skills to make people feel a lot more at ease.

to some extent i agree that police should have firearms to stop things like the cumbrian shooting from happening however if we let police handle firearms then the public will want them and get hold of them then we will become more and more like the USA and i’m perfectly sure that we dont want that!!
thanksss

Yes more police should carry firearms but only when in twos so they keep an eye on each other’s behaviour. They should not be allowed to take their weapons home they should be kept at a secure station and everything about their use etc logged. To go along with this the present licensing system for civilians should be scrapped. No civilians should be allowed to own and keep guns at home – there is no real need for this and the risks massively outweighs any need. Many criminals get their stocks of guns by stealing from licensed gun holders and time and time again we see licensed gun holders using these deadly weapons irresponsibly. Only a few weeks ago I read of a farmer blasting his shot gun over a 5 year old boys head to chase him off his land.
Yes give the police guns and take them off all civilians; they do not need them nor can they be trusted with them.
