Thanks Andrew, had back problems (two degraded discs and one protruding) for well over 15 years and it destroyed my career plans (studying to be a research geneticist). Not a lot you can do when on a good day you can spend a few hours on your feet and on a bad day none at all!
I’m just thankful the Internet came along at the right time as without it I’d be one of the poor sods on disability benefits for their entire life as there’s no way I could have ever worked a 9-5 job as an employee. As it is I’ve had two successful online businesses (I run them lay down) and after the operation life is looking up a little (I’m better than I was before the operation), so overall can’t complaint (can always be worse).
Takes up to 18 months for the two discs in my back to fuse and considering I’ve spent 20+ hours a day lay down for well over a decade (last 3 years being the worst), it’s going to be a long recovery period. I had a sore bum for 8+ weeks over this summer after sitting for 2 hours at the theatre to see an ice show, this had nothing to do with my back, simple case of my bum not being used to it :-) It was worth it though, been about three years since I was able to go with my family to something like that and have seen a couple more shows since and have lots more planned next year (wife is a bit of a theatre nut :-)).
