there is an element of british society who think that their salary/wages should not be use for living ie buying food,transport costs,etc these are the same people who retire before the real workers retirement age of 65,and now politicians want to increase the age of retirement even higher to fund the final salary retire early schemes that public sector workers enjoy.you talk about a fairer society but you wont do anything about this state of affairs,everyone should retire at the same age,the politicians past and present have ruined this great nation and created a country where the lowest paid sections of society are exploited to fund greed and dishonesty of the elitist few.

Why has my mother in law had spend her savings and sell her house paid for by her husband a postman (hardly a highly paid job) and herself doing a few part time domestic jobs (cleaner etc) to pay for her nursing home care costs?. Their home was their pride and joy. It was their belief that it would be passed on to their children.
Had they lived in rented accomodation and spent every penny of their income overseas on holidays her care would be paid for by the taxpayer as is other peoples in care homes.
In reality she is being taxed at a very high rate on money (savings in particular) that has already been taxed for being a responsible citizen.
Where does the fair taxes and benefits fit here? and why has this situation not changed. Care costs based on lifetime earnings would be so much fairer.
