OK, since currently we can’t remove them legally early, what about financial incentives IF it saves the tax payer money?
If it’s £100 a day and we can get a foreign criminal to leave a year early and pay them the full £5,000 we save a lot of money.
Saved money: 365×100-5,000 = £31,500
Considering the moral and ethical implications of giving foreign criminals money to leave the British prison system early it has to be a significant saving (several times what it costs) and at the same time not let criminals out too early (still need to be punished).
You know thinking about it, shouldn’t early release be enough incentive for them to leave?
If I had a 10 year prison term and I was supposed to serve 3 years (assuming good behaviour) and after the 3 years I’d be legally deported and I was offered early release at 2 1/2 years if I agreed to leave the country voluntarily, it’s a no brainer!
Our criminal justice system is in such a mess, it really needs some commonsense brought into it.
