Comment on Labour Policies : Labour Asylum and Immigration Policy by K williams.

David, sorry this a long post, but I think important. I left school at 15 with 7 ‘O’ levels, my family were poor & I had to Bring in a wage. After my service in the Colonial Police I returned to Britain realising that I was not qualified for any good management job! I got myself into night school and for 7 years whilst working 9 til 5 everyday I went 3 times a week for 3 hours a night + studying at home other nights + weekends & got myself a degree in Management. For the rest of my time in work, I am now retired I occasionally went on courses to update my skills. The last major one was 6 months at UMIST learning computing skills!
I have watched this country in horror as first under the conservatives and more recently under labour, we have destroyed our manufacturing base!
The employers & the unions were , in my opinion, equally to blame, the employers were greedy, not wanting to invest in new modern machinery and methods, just screwing quick profits out of their businesses. The Unions, Luddite & marxist, not wanting to cooperate with the few good companies to help improve working methods! Classic examples are Jack Jones a KGB sponsored communist who engineered confrontation rather than cooperation in the TGW, The Car industry whose wildcat strikes & poor quality rcords in the 70’s ,handed it over to the Japanese. The coal industry, where Scargills Marxist posturings with the NUM, totally alienating the average moderate Brit, made it easy for Thatcher to destroy him! Unfortunately all he forecast for the industry, closure of pits, importing cheap foreign coal has come true!
The dilution of our education system with large numbers of immigrant children, requiring special treatment for language skills & religious political correctness has ensured that indigenous white children in these often poor areas of our towns & cities have been neglected, succesive govts have done little or nothing to address this. The Marxist, politically correct, educational establishment have ensured that it is impossible for the good teachers to keep control of discipline and the politicising of curricula has ensured that many of our children are just not sufficiently educated for modern life, Just what use are “media studies”, “citizenship” & “social science” in the modern workplace? At least a reasonable knowledge of Maths & English, are essential and hopefully some computer skills, but many are leaving school with little or no skills in these vital subjects because of the failure of our educational system! Coupled with the fact that most British companies do not want to fund training programs, this has ensured that apprentice schemes or the modern equivalent do not exist. Thus the reason that foreign trained workers are more cost efficient to recruit, this is what has to be addressed, I cannot see any of the Lib/Lab/con parties doing this!
