The Labour Party, led by Sir Keir Starmer, won the largest number of seats and votes. Labour won the election with 411 seats and 34% of the vote across the UK. Labour’s vote share was 1.6 percentage points up on 2019. It received a lower vote share than any party forming a post–war majority government.
The incoming Labour government replaced the previous Conservative
government.
Labour won 411 seats, just short of the 412 seats they won in 2001 and 418 in 1997. Labour’s 33.7% vote share was the lowest for any party winning a general election in the post-war period.
Labour’s vote share was highest in the North East, where it had 45.4%; and lowest in the South East and South West.
Compared to 2019, Labour’s vote share was up 1.6% points.
It gained vote share in all regions/countries, except in the North West, Wales and London.
Labour Stats: 631 Candidates, 9,708,716 Votes, 33.70% Vote Share, 411 MPs Elected.
Labour gained 411 seats, an increase of 209 MPs, beating the Conservatives with 121 seats, a decrease of 251 MPs. Labour under Keir Starmer returned to power after winning the election with a 173 seat majority.
Of note the new UK Reform Party led by Nigel Farage, gained 5 seats.

The Labour Party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, won 202 seats, and 32.1% of the vote, down from 262 seats and 40.0% of the vote in 2017.
Labour won 202 seats, their lowest number since 1935.
The party gained Putney but lost 61 other seats, a net decrease of 60.
The party’s vote share was 32.1%, lower than in 2017 but higher than in 2015 and in 2010. It lost most in the North East (12.9%pts) and Yorkshire and the Humber (10.1%pts).
The Labour vote share was highest in London, where it won 48.1% of the vote.
Labour Stats: 631 Candidates, 10,269,051 Votes, 32.08% Vote Share, 202 MPs Elected.
Conservatives returned to power after winning the election with a 80 seat majority.
Of note the Brexit Party led by Nigel Farage didn’t contest any of the 317 Conservative held constituencies to support the Conservative Party in ‘Getting Brexit Done’.

Labour gained 262 seats, an increase of 30 MPs, losing to the Conservatives with 317 seats, a decrease of 13 MPs. Result was a hung Parliament with the Conservatives returned to power with DUP support.
Of note Brexit was a key issue during the campaign.

Labour gained 232 seats, a decrease of 26 MPs, losing the the Conservatives with 330 seats, an increase of 24 MPs. Conservatives returned to power after winning the election with a 11 seat majority.
Of note the UK Independence Party (UKIP) received 12.6 per cent of the vote, displacing the Liberal Democrats as the third-placed party in terms of popular vote, but won only one seat: Clacton, which they had gained at a by-election six months earlier.

Labour gained 258 seats, a decrease of 91 MPs, losing to the Conservatives with 306 seats, an increase of 96 MPs. Result was a hung Parliament with the Conservatives returned to power with the Liberal Democrats support.

Labour won 355 of the 646 seats contested, an electoral majority of 64 over all the other parties combined. The Conservatives won 198 seats and the Liberal Democrats 62.
Labour polled 9.6 million votes, 35.2% of the vote, the Conservatives 32.4% and the Liberal Democrats 22.0%. Turnout was 61.4%.
35.2% is the lowest share of the vote ever recorded for a winning party at a UK General Election and 5.5% points lower than in 2001. It is equivalent to 21.6% of the electorate, again a record low for a winning party.

Overall, Labour won the election with 412 seats, 6 down from their total in 1997 but still the second highest number of seats gained by one party since the war. The Conservatives won 166 seats, an increase of a single seat. The Liberal Democrats won 52, their highest total since 1929.
Turnout was 59.4% the lowest recorded since 1918. Turnout fell in England, Scotland and Wales although it increased in Northern Ireland.
Of note: Only 29 seats changed hands at the 2001 General Election, the lowest number since October 1974.
