And the extension of your point is the immigrants entering the UK today will tend to become British in the future and not as the BNP say some kind of Muslim colonisation of the UK where our beliefs, laws and traditions will be completely replaced.
As long as the majority of people in Britain are British (their skin colour/religion is irrelevant) we won’t have a problem with foreigners trying to ‘take over’ as the BNP suggest.
If 20-30 million people from say Saudi Arabi type countries came to the UK over a period of a few years, yes we’d have a big problem, but that’s not what’s happening. It’s a small minority with extremist views that are an issue, not all immigrants, most come to the UK for a better way of life, not to turn the UK into the country they came from!
You might not agree with letting immigrants into the UK, there’s an argument our resources should go to British born people who have (or their parents have) paid into the system before new arrivals. I agree with your point “The laws need to be changed to stop the abuses of the system” , but by the same token if a Doctor or a scientist or a fully trained electrician wants to live and work in the UK AND there’s a shortage of trained workers in that profession, we’d be mad to turn them away, they add to our society.
I’d rather have 1 hard working Muslim doctor/scientist/electrician who follows our laws, pays taxes and contributes to society than a hundred lazy British born people who can’t be bothered to get a decent education or job! And no I’m not saying ALL British born people are lazy, but IMO they (the lazy ones, a minority) are a bigger issue than a minority of foreigners entering this country with extremist views and agendas.
