Comment on Halting Immigration Would be Economic Suicide for the UK! by Sarah.

David,

I merely posted the policies on each, anyone can interpret how it would work or not work.

I agree 5 years is a long time, however, at the present time the UK needs a complete facelift and change of direction which isn’t going to happen overnight whoever gets in. Current population levels are not sustainable and current unemployment levels are not sustainable.

It’s very difficult to eject illegal immigrants who have legal aid at their disposal and generally use the Human Rights Act to appeal their ejection. Criminal or Not.

In order to be able to eject those, there first needs to be the removal of the recourse of the HRA from the EU – this will take some time. A moratorium needs to be in place to stop a surge in applications of residence during the time it takes in removing the use of the RHA to appeal.

In withdrawing the UK from the EU no one is sure what will replace it. The EEC was acceptable to Britain, however will be it acceptable to Europe for the UK to return to trading partners only?

Labour has actively encouraged people to make the dole a serious life choice. You get money to have children regardless of how many, you get your mortgage interest paid or housing benefit and you get money to live on and you are even given a home if you want one. You can stay on it as long as you want, particularly if you are a single mother and are able to churn out another baby every 7 years.

There needs to be some serious sanctions against those people who do claim benefits long term without looking for work or intending to ever look for work. If their “Workfare” (both BNP and UKIP Policy) program is in place, then those capable of work shouldn’t have any other choice than to take the jobs on offer or better themselves to get higher paid skilled employment.

Some sanctions were introduced where people are deducted in their benefits if they refuse to take a job or actively job hunt. If this is not working then obviously benefit payments are too much if they can afford to take the hit.

I think also that there does need to be an emphasis on training, apprenticeships (which are virtually non-existent now) and affordable further education in achieving these goals.

Debts of £30k for graduates just doesn’t make it seem realistic for many to pursue their chosen careers whether they want to be Doctors, Nurses or Teachers; pay for Nurses and Teachers in particular doesn’t make University value for money unless they then take their qualifications overseas.
