David Cameron said he had met a Black man of forty who came to this country at six years old and had been in the navy for thirty years to prove that ethnic minorities are on his side on the immigration debate… LOOK AT THE MATHS…. The guy would have to have joined the navy at ten years old… A gaffe? A lie?? Or bad memory??? Whatever the answer this guy wants to save £6 billion from the budget, well after his maths on this subject i’m a little wary..

check your maths, he was 6 when he came here, plus 40 thats 46, you can join the navy at 16 here.so whats the problem.
David Cameron said the man was 40, not he’d lived here 40 years.
Therefore for a forty year old man to serve in the Royal Navy for 30 years, he’d have had to join when 10 years old.
I always take these types of stories from anyone with a pinch of salt. Seriously, David Cameron must have heard thousands of stories from people he’s spoke to since becoming the Tory leader. He might recall the general detail like:
A black bloke came to Britain as a child and has lived here all his life, serving 30 years in the Royal Navy and he’s worried about immigration.
OK, I could see that, but the sort of detail he gave:
Black
6 years old
30 years in the Royal Navy
Sends up a big red flag as we can’t check the figures and you don’t give that sort of detail (who remembers that level of detail)
I have over 5,000 comments on this site and when a commenter makes a comment with the sort of detail David Cameron supplied I check them out. Have caught out a lot of BNP trolls making comments under multiple names with that type of detailed story that fits perfectly with the “immigration is out of control, broken Britain, blah, blah, blah” point of view, it’s not funny!
In my mind it’s a fictitious story and Cameron’s speech writers can’t do basic maths!

Does the general public really care about debates? As far as I’m concerned debates are for boring universities. All the public need is to try and choose a party that they hate the least. That is what U.K.politics has always been about because we know that all parties promise to make our lives better even though they have had years to do so but didn’t.

Looks like the British electorate do care as after the 1st live TV debate Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems polling results increased significantly.
Apparently almost 10 million people watched the live TV debate add to that the sound bites etc… that will be on the news and news papers today and pretty much every voter will know how the live TV debate went.
Public opinion is driven by the media, if they say the Lib Dems have increased support after the TV debate more people will vote for the Lib Dems and less for the other parties.

guys the only person who convinced me that he would be a good leader for this country was Cameron. Nick Clegg kept on repeating himself, and where is he going to get this £17 billion pounds if not through increased taxes. It was his maths, not Cameron’s, which didn’t add up. The conservative party is the only one whose economic policy will not vastly increase the deficit. It is also the only one whose policies on crime really address the issue. Voting lib dem is most likely to cause a hung parliament, which is the most damaging possible outcome of this election, and voting labour will simply result in four or five more years of disaster. Brown simply bullied the others, smearing cameron then sucking up to Clegg, preparing for the possibility of a hung parliament. The only viable choice is Cameron and the Conservative Party.

Was thinking about voting for David Cameron, but after last nights debate, I think I’m now going towards the Lib Dems. Defo not Lazy Labour.
Being a first time voter, i was very unsure on which party to vote for. Last nights debate has definitely made my mind up to vote Lib Dems. It seems as if Brown and Cameron are in a childish fight, while Clegg seems to have things to say rather than hit back at the other two.
In all honesty it looked more to me like Cameron was piggy in the middle in his TV debate. Brown kept picking faults with his policies and he was trying to defend himself. The Lib Dems had the least to lose and haven’t been in power since 1922, therefore don’t have much you can pick faults with.
It’s not surprizing that the Lib Dems came out on top!

Gordon Brown is streets ahead of the other two in knowing what has to be done.
when the credit crunch hit Bush and all other leaders dissapeared from public gaze as did cameron, Gordon Brown came out and said this is what needs to be done and they all followed “this guy is a leader”.
The worlds economy is in a dire state and this is worse than the 80s but under brown its not been to bad and there are signs we are coming out of it gradua.lly, under tories it would have been and will still be mass unemployment and cut services and interest rates in double figures.
I have no love of any of the parties but can see clearly that gordon brown is streets ahead with his thinking to get us out of this mess.
A mandate from the british people for labour for another 5 years will give brown the confidence to do what he has to do.
Choose any of the other 2 and we will be in real trouble
