Somewhere we seem to have lost the plot here.
We DO NOT have a President, and we do not vote in a Prime Minister – he or she is elected by the party members.
Technically we vote for our local representative to the Commons, in practice we tend to vote for the party of the local candidates.
This debate is just another step towards American style politics where they THINK they live in a democracy. On the other hand perhaps we are already there!

I’m not a floating voter, so the Debate is of no interest or value. Seems to be a waste of ITV money.
We need to ensure the future UK workforce have the skills and qualities needed for the job roles that will be here in the future, job sectors and job roles are changing and the government papers tell us that future employers will be looking for skilled employees as low skilled jobs start to decrease over the next 5 years. The need for having a skilled workforce is evident as employers bid for contracts on a global scale.

This debate is a scam and a smokescreen as all the rest of mainstream media coverage of politics. They have not started debating yet, and I said to my partner: “They’re going to do immigration”. And guess what! They did. First thing. Gracefully followed by crime (no connection, I’m sure…)
Immigration is not a problem in this country. The wars that we are waging and wasting public’s money on are a problem. MPs’ corruption is a problem. Capitalism and the credit crunch that it predictabaly and understandably brought is a problem. Climate change that is already affecting people’s lives is a problem.
The list goes on and on and on. Women earning 17% less than men is a problem. The elderly’s poverty is a problem.
All this money that goes on wars could go on education and health care.
The electoral system in the UK is so archaic, that we affectively have a choice out of two non-options. This is not democracy, is it?
But would they debate any of these issues?

hi, i would like to comment on the remark david cameron made earlier regarding immigration, saying he had recently spoken to a 40yr old black man who lives in plymouth who came to this country when he was 6yr old, and that he had served in the navy for 30yrs, well i am no mathematician but even i know that only made the man concerned 4yrs of age at the time of jpoining the navy, sorry cant believe a word that comes out of his mouth, lost my vote already. Please put this point to him.

Well spotted, that would make the person David Cameron spoke to 10 years old when he joined the Royal Navy :-)
David
well spotted, indeed. they are human, after all!
Let us not get too excited. These men are only human beings, with all their frailties. We expect too much of politicians. We all need to take matters more into our own hands, even if it means more demonstrations, strikes and stoppages. one does not believe that merely by voting in a different (probably quite anonymous) candidate one is going to exert a lot of influence. the country is really run by a host of silent, unpaid volunteers, without whom the whole edifice would crumble. So……..support your local volunteer group.

The cameraman seems to be avoiding closeups of Cameron and Brown and concentrating solely on Clegg. Also Cameron got cut off unfairly several times and did not have a chance to counter Clegg’s silly regional immigration suggestion.
what ever happend to the 3 smaller partys debate straight after?
You lot just took my dedicated server out!
Right after the leaders debate finished got a big traffic jump (this page is ranked well for TV debate searches in Google) and the software that runs the database (MYSQL server) couldn’t handle all the connections and so most visitors would have got a “Error establishing a database connection” instead of the site between 10:05pm-10:35pm!
Got a new server just a week ago with a faster CPU and double the memory as well, looks like I need to optimise the server better.
