I started this General Election site June 2009 (in anticipation of the UK 2010 general election) since it takes sometime (usually 9+ months, like having a baby :)) for the major search engines to rank a new web site well (my business is getting sites ranked high in search engines like Google). The site did […]

People should vote with their hearts and for what they believe in.
True democracy is where everyone has a voice regardless of how liberal or extreme it is. To try and suppress that voice is oppression regardless of who it is.
Personally, I would like to see a government that governs it people through referendums (Direct Democracy)such as Switzerland.
Unfortunately, the present Government thinks its populace is too stupid to implement that kind of working, that’s why there wasn’t a referendum on the EU.

Could you add a new poll on the possibliy of a hung Parliment as the polls are segesting its a likely scenario that we will have a hung patliment, but I think it would be interesting to get peoples opinions on which way it would be hung i.e. More tory or Labour
Typical censorship that we have come to expect.
Trying to pretend the BNP don’t exist
The BNP won’t really feature in a hung parliment, they are not fielding nough serious candidates to have any effect on a hung parliment.
If it happens then it will be either Labour or Tory with the slight advantage and the LibDems will be the ones to make the overall difference.
The BNP are only targeting getting 2 MPs elected by there own admition (we covered this yesterday) so they won;t deature if we do have a hung parliment.
As we went through yesterday the BNP are not going to put up enough candidates to get a majority in parliment, so its a numbers game and they won’t feature and thats just the facts of the matter.
View Comment
Labour, LibDema and Tories are puting up a full candidate list of over 650 MPs, UKIP has a candidate list of 550, and the BNP are only planning on fielding 200 candidates (and I think we can all agree that they have little to no chance of getting all 200 elected)
So in terms of just the numbers they won’t play a part in any hung parliment.

which is why you are specifically targetting the BNP instead of Labour who you admit to being the Tories greatest threat in a general election
I believe that Labour is pretty much cooked at the moment, and they are basically knackering themselves.
There really isn’t a significant threat from the BNP either at the next election, UKIP is a bigger threat than the BNP in my opinion.
The problem there is we don’t have this place full of UKI supporters, if it was I’d be showing them there policies won’t work as well, but the majority of people here rave about the BNP so I show the downsides of the BNP to those people.
If a UKIP supporter comes here and takes about UKIP Policy I will do the same to them.

Vote no,
Its common knowledge that UKIP are finished.
Vote BNP
Save Britain
Common knowledge with a BNP spun story, look at the wider press the press the VOTERS read, that’s NOT what they are saying is it?
See the BNP story doesn’t make much difference if the mass media show UKIP in a different light does it.
I don’t think they are, a lot of Tory Supporters are moving to UKIP purely on the Europe Issue.
I’ve always been a Tory voter but I’m still voting UKIP for Europe.
OK then VNTBNP
Some UKIP Policies that I quite like:
– Direct Democracy – allowing the populace to make decisions
– Withdrawal from the EU and back to trading partners within the EEC context
– Freedom to Home School without being interference
– Speed up deportation of illegal immigrants
– Student Grants for University
– No Work No Visa policy on new immigrants
– Accept Asylum Seekers arriving directly, remove those already passing through a safe country
– Flat tax starting at £10k
– Workfare and fair welfare (community work for benefits)
– Double the number of prisons, sentences will mean what they say
– Removal of Concurrent Sentencing
– Three strikes system
– Repeal laws criminalising opinion or belief, retain those inciting hatred and violence
– Abolition of Human Rights Act
– Corporal Punishment is the decision of schools
I could go on all day but these are a refreshing change as far as I’m concerned.
What is there not to like about these…?
UKIP Policies
Sarah,
I don’t disgree at all that UKIP has some real world workable policy, I won’t vote UKIP simple on the EU issue.
I think being part of the EU is good for Britain, so I will stick with voting Tory because of that.
My main arguments about UKIP is simply for the people that want to leave the EU they are a better option than the BNP, the BNP have no policies that will fix this country where as UKIP do actually have sensible real world policy.
So I would suggest people vote UKIP rather than the BNP.
Being Part of the EU is Good for Britain
As a home educating family I have a good grasp of education law (I own a copy of the education act) and we already have enough protection in law and LEAs have enough power to deal with home educated children who are not receiving a suitable education.
However, some LEAs take the law into their own hands and demand things not available in law, for example monitoring of the home on a yearly basis!
Home education was the norm before schools became common place, home education (called Otherwise in the education act) has always been the ‘default’ option for children reaching school age, (doesn’t help that it’s called school age, should be education age) parents make a conscious decision to send their children to school, you opt IN the school system, not out.
We were taken to court in Grimsby by the LEA and LOST (cost us over £1,200 in court fees), but after we lost they left us alone (they could have forced us to send our children to school)! It was a BAD LEA and since magistrates haven’t a clue what they are doing in this area, the odds are stacked against you as a home educator in court in a bad area.
The law doesn’t need changing the attitude of some LEAs need to change their approach to be within the law. Some LEA’s are great at dealing with home educators, but like with most things some within the system think they know better and have to act outside the legal framework!
Where we live now the LEA was happy just to talk to me outside the home and based on what I said have left us alone for ~3 years. They had no reason to doubt what I told them and the reality is the money investigating us just because they wanted to (like Grimsby LEA did) could be better spent on children in school who are failing to receive a suitable education!
I’ll add eldest son is at University (never went to school) and he finds the degree he’s studying really easy, second son is an idiot and is in school (home education isn’t for every child) and the school thinks he’s a good student, (he isn’t what we’d consider a good student, hence why we sent him to school), youngest still fully home educated and doing extremely well. So there was no good reason for Grimsby LEA to take us to court, it was over them wanting access to the home and children which they do not have a right to in law.
Would be great to have a party in power that not only tolerates home educators, but embraced us, BUT I would not vote for a party to have an easier life in this small area, there’s far more important issues.
As an home educator Labour’s Big Brother approach to government is probably the worst party we could vote for, but I look at the big picture, so will still vote Labour until a better alternative is presented.

Freedom to HomeSchool Without Interference
No problem with creating a hung parliament poll, any thoughts on the question and answers beyond “Do you think there will be a hung parliament?” and “yes” and “no” as answers?
With the right question and answers should make for an interesting discussion since there’s a chance of a hung parliament next year with how much of a swing the Conservatives need for a clear majority. And with smaller parties like the BNP, UKIP, Greens having the potential of taking votes away from the three main parties.
Just did a poll on political issues important to your choice of who to vote for (one of your comments gave me the idea) and it took about 2 hours of research to compile the 41 options!

Hung Parliament Poll
I’ll work on something and get back to you David
Since 1922 the UK has had either a Conservative or Labour Government.
I think it’s time for a big change not the same old same old following on from each others policies and making things worse.
I personally would like to see a Hung Parliament and think it would do the country good to have a spread to include minority parties. You never know, they may start listening to the people (and each other) at long last…
Nobody really knows whether it would be a disaster or a benefit but I do think it has got to be better than what has been happening to the UK over the last decades.

There are many spell checking utilities available on the net.
You may find this useful
Who really cares, the points are still valid and you still can’t answer them, the best you can come up with is a spell checker, not really the answer to resoving the British Economy is it?
I don’t know we really need some BNP people here who actually have answer to policy and reality.
I couldn’t agree more on both points.
David
Every time you don’t vote you are giving your vote to the winning party in an election. The winning puppet party of the unelected controlling elite that pull the hidden agenda strings to restrict your freedom and deny you democratic rights.
It would be a pity that so many good people would end up making their non-vote count towards these wrong evils.
Find any small party (vote BNP if they are standing in your constituency) or independent candidate and give them your vote in the next elections; they would probably not win, but at least your vote will not count against you and in favour of an eventual dictatorship government.

PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN, THE LABOUR PARTY-FOR THE PEOPLE. OR………………..

“Mr Britain is getting upset”
Like me more and more people are sick of the way this whole country is run and the threat that is posed by membership into the EU as per the un ratified un elected lot that pushed the Lisbon treaty through and signed more of our powers away to the EU and even worst the threat of failed left wing leaders returning as the EU presidents after being unwanted in the UK is a complete outrage. I am not a Fascist or Racist and I simply believe this party is the only one that is looking out for the British people (even those who have not been here that long), it’s time for a change for the better as this country is sick and as long as the 42 Million per day EU swindle continues this country will never recover from being cash strapped and will continue to sink into nothingness that the left wing elite would want divided broken and defeated. If population was a health and safety quota we would be shut down as the country is now over loaded with no sign of recovery unless we adopt policy like Australia and New Zealand and control our borders and control our TAX payers own money we are doomed and more and more people are waking up but how long does it take and what must it take. It’s not even selfish or a crime to want to protect your children or your children’s children and let us not forget our fore bearers who gave their lives in 2 bloody world wars so that Britain could be free from the grip of central Europe and it’s communistic directives driving the rich poor divide even further into warped proportion. I want to see a Great Britain with British jobs for British workers, free further education, better health services, free dental treatment and free heating and more money for the old people that paid their TAXES and paved their way for our generation to be here – were are the new houses to replace the ones Maggie sold off. So little has been done that has been in our interest as a Nation it’s no wonder MR Great Britain is feeling abused and 2nd class as you know we all are thanks to the Labour plan to wipe the British people into minority in our own land – how dare they we need to make these swine pay & If you got here then this is about 1% of how patriotic I am but I am not going to carry on blabbing and well done for not falling asleep. (we must fight the good fight and never surrender to the marxist left)

“I am not a Fascist or Racist” really, but hanging around with them will help you get those none fascist and racist results you want? Immigration is but one small issue, a small issue in the small minds of football hooligans who vote for the BNP, your “party” has no other policy than “white supremacy” that will solve nothing when most of the white population of Britain hates you as much as you hate everyone else. Also funny footage of you guys chanting “I’m England till I die” especially the people in the Celtic football shirts, fairly sure Glasgow is in Scotland….. oh and by the way England is a Germanic word, suits your politics though doesn’t it?
We’re all immigrants in Britain we’re living on an island, look into DNA testing etc. and you might actually find out our historical route in all of Europe stems from, shock horror, the Indian subcontinent so wake up, try and educate yourself and leave the football at home with your staffies.
All the crime in my area is caused by people who look just like your voters, uneducated unmotivated WHITE chav scum, talk to Jeremy Kyle if life is being unfair, he can probably tell you who your wife is sleeping with too for an extra fee.
BNP are chavs, Vicky Pollard would be proud. Uneducated dumb-asses, and most of them are uneducated through choice seeing as primary and secondary school is compulsory and they still choose to bunk off or not listen in class. Probably explains why they have no historical knowledge of the world and why when they actually bother to protest their vocabulary consists of “urg, buhh, mahhh, woooa, urg, ugg, ugg”. Fu&&ing chav scummy morons, I wouldn’t trust them to look after dust.

I have noticed that one of the questions that keeps cropping up is “Why are all the posts about the BNP”. As far as I can tell the only people that are posting here are either BNP members or people who are for whatever reason, determined to attack and try to ridicule the BNP (its members and policies) in an attempt to steer the debate off topic, namely “Who will you vote for at the next General Election”.
To counteract that, I have found the best form of defence (rather than being on the back foot continually defending the BNP) is to ask them who they would vote for (if they haven’t already made it apparent) and more importantly, why are they voting for that particular party; what is so good about that party, and more importantly – how, going by there past history, can you be sure they will deliver.
By putting them on the back foot through probing them for the reasoning behind there comments. There immediate reaction is usually to hurl more abuse or to divert the topic away from your question (or both); so you keep asking them the smae question until you get the answer you require.
What you will usually find is that the majority of them HAVE NO ANSWER, they are just acting like sheep spurred on by the national media. Of the very few that do answer we can then debate those reasons sensibly without the need for name calling or hurling abuse.
I would have liked to say you can see a few examples of mine where I have succesfully done just that, but pages 6 to 12 looked to have disappeared. That said you can still see some discussions I have had with VoteNo ToBNP who was one of those few who did debate policies with me.
At the end of the day the BNP’s policies reflect the wishes of the majority of the British People as opposed to supporting the demands of the EU. We only need to show that distinction to make people aware of what the BNP actually stand for.
Incidently David, in the interests of impartiality, why are there no BNP Party News articles in the “Recent Articles” section to the left of your website. The BNP are putting out at least 3 new news articles every day on their website
View Comment
Sorry David, please ignore my last paragraph. I have just noticed that the articles relate to postingas on this site, not external sources
No worries, I just (and do mean just) moved the main three political parties news articles to another site, so it was a valid question as an hour or so ago they were hosted on this site.
I moved the political news as it wasn’t generating any debate (I posted them for debating) and as they aren’t generating debate they were taking up space on the menu that made it harder to find posts visitors are commenting on (or new posts they might want to comment on under recent articles).
The reason I didn’t add the BNP news or UKIP and the Green party is two fold.
1st it takes quite a bit of time scouring the news pages of the parties sites, copying and pasting etc… and if I added the BNP news I’d also for fairness have to add UKIP and the Green party (at least double my work load).
As a side note all the political parties have missed a trick on their news RSS feeds, they all have an excerpt of their news rather than the full news articles. Most webmasters prefer to give an excerpt version of their articles so scraper scripts (copying the RSS feeds) can’t copy their entire site automatically. But with a political party that wants their news spread around, having an excerpt RSS feed makes it harder for others to fully syndicate their news. If all the parties had full RSS news feeds I could setup automated posting of news in about 5 minutes.
2nd there’s only three parties (Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems) currently that have any hope next year of being seriously involved in forming a government and if it’s not a hung parliament (or close result) the Lib Dems will be (like right now) powerless to do anything serious.
And so even though the BNP/UKIP/Greens post valuable news items, it’s a lot of work keeping it all up to date and as things stand those three parties won’t have much say after the next general election.
I know some of the BNP supporters here believe the BNP will do really well in the 2010 general election, but history tells us it takes a LONG time for a new political party to work it’s way into power under our first past the post voting system. You just have to look at the Lib Dems with just 60 MPs in 2005 despite gaining 22% of the popular vote!
If proportional representation was in place, with almost 650 parliamentary seats they should have closing on 150 MP’s right now (probably more as more might vote for them if they knew their vote counted, I know I’d consider it).

David,
RE- RSS
I asked the BNP webmaster about this and he gave me this link and says he has set it to Full.
Probably means far more to you than me lol, im an Engineer.
Vote BNP
Save Britain
The BNP website uses WordPress (same software I use for this site) and they have it setup to show a excerpt feed, which if I used it to create posts they’d only show a small amount of content, which isn’t enough for visitors to comment about.
With a WordPress excerpt feed you pretty much get about the same amount of text as the paragraph I just wrote above. For most sites that want their content syndicated, but not fully copied it works well, (like this site https://general-election-2010.co.uk/feed/ ) as it generates more traffic to the site as long as the sites copying the excerpt of the posts links to the site the feed is from (most do).
You’d think political parties when it comes to their news articles, speeches etc… they’d want it copied in full on as many sites as possible, get their message spread around.
Like I said I think they are all missing a trick, generating debate around the political news you publish has to be good for a political party (assuming they want their news spread around).

My mistake the BNP website does use a full RSS feed.
Just ran a test and it imported the full news.
Typical the rss feed aggregator I used to use for importing feeds no longer works and the one I just tested with made a right mess!
David
Well you have to laugh at yourself when you get things so wrong :-)
After looking closer the following political parties DO NOT have a full RSS feed.
Conservative Party
Labour Party
Liberal Democrat Party
And the following political parties DO have full RSS feed.
BNP
Green Party
UKIP
IF I can get a WordPress RSS feed aggregator working in a way I’m happy with I will be able to add the latter three parties news to http://www.votesprout.com/ in full automatically.
Kind of interesting the three main parties don’t have full news feeds. I wouldn’t put it down to a conspiracy to stop commenting on their news or anything, just that they are not working in the 21st century like the rest of us :-)
I planned to email the three main parties to see if I could get a full RSS news feed (worth a try to make my life easier) and contacted the Lib Dems first (not got around to Labour/Conservatives yet) via their contact form and it was ‘broken’: when I tried to send a relatively large message via the form, it wouldn’t send. Sent a smaller message and it went through fine and I received an automated email saying the email address my message had gone to is to a person who no longer works for the Lib Dems and I should email someone else (at least supplied an alternative address). I used the alternative email and got a reply quite quickly which is good as many organisations with websites don’t respond to queries even when they supply contact details!!!
If you look at the Labour party site it’s a mess, there’s a news section that is way out of date and where they have different sections (like a women’s section) the Labour policies do not match the links on the main site and don’t work. Basically whoever is managing the different sections is not updating the policy links when I guess the main webmaster removes old policy documents and uploads new ones with new links resulting in lots of dead links through the domain, DOH!
So far nothing excessively wrong has jumped out at me about the Conservative website other than it’s Conservative :-)
David

Thanks for the nice comment there UK F, I will be coming back to this site to debate with you as I did enjoy debating with you in particular as you do put a lot of work in to your debates.
I stopped because I was getting fed up of the pointless attacks being made so decided to take a break, but I will certainly come back shortly to re start debates with you and anyone else that actually wants to enter in to real debate rather than just go in to slagging off sessions.

Ok people I do have something of a serious issue that i think deservs raising (David the Mod also picked up on it earlier)
Now we are all obviously o different sides of the political fence but when people make certain comments on this forum they get marked down instantly.
Take today for instance I made comments regarding people who can’t be bothered to work getting 23k in benefits and being able to buy brand new cars. And I suggested that those people SHOULD NOT get that much money, and that it should be given to:
OUR Soldiers
OUR Pensioners instead
And I also remarked that the Tory Policy of paying our Soldiers more money when on active duty is a GOOD thing.
Yet it seems the BNP supporters here decide to give both those comments the thumbs down.
Now my question is this: Why on earth do you thumbs down things that mean our soldiers and pensioners GET MORE MONEY?
I know I have seen some good ideas on this site which I have given the thumbs up to because they are simply good ideas regardless of which party they are coming from.
I just don’t understand why posts are simply marked down because of the people that are making them? EVEN WHEN THEY MEAN OUR SOLDIERS and PENSIONERS GET MORE MONEY.

As it stands, your pseudonym is synonymous with the uaf and all that they stand for, hence the negative response from the posters here!

The reason I don’t use my real name on here is simple the numbers of threats I get daily from BNP Supporters (even members) stops me from doing so, as I have already said on this site so I have no real intention of giving out any personal info on me, as my address has previously been published on BNP support websites and I have no intention of allowing that to happen again.
I have regular contact with the police passing on all the treatening emails and telephone calls I receive because of my opposition to the BNP, but I don’t let bullies intimidate me in to stopping voicing my opinions I just take far more care in how I do it and that means NOT ever giving away personal info.
I do expect certain people here to automatically scream Liar etc, but hey ho par for the course.
