Comment on Election 2010 What A Conservative Government Will Do To Great Britain by David.

Lets for arguments sake imagine everything you say about Thatcher and the Conservatives is right. Do you honestly expect calling a 13 year old with a strong opinion an idiot is going to sway them to your point of view? Awesome job of showing a young mind where you think they got it wrong.

You seem to have the impression Caleb’s merely a product of the socialist spin I’ve in your opinion subjected him to over the last 13 years.

If you’ve read my site (the main part of https://general-election-2010.co.uk/ ) for any length of time you’ll realise I’m not a socialist, far from it. I’m left of center on most things, but not on all and not that far left on most issues (I’m right of centre on some issues).

Caleb’s got views that are more left-wing than I or my wife has and he’s got those views by a combination of discussing politics with his parents AND his own research online. You seriously believe he’d be able to write comments (with specific dates etc…) like his response to you if all he was doing was parroting what I told him?

I think what the Conservatives did to Britain under the name of Thatcherism is unforgivable, but by the same token I wouldn’t want a group of MPs who refer to their party members as comrades and can’t take a leak without the unions having a say in power either! So though I think what the Tories did in the 80-90s to hard working British people was awful, I also wouldn’t have wanted a continuation of old Labour either: I suspect old Labour would have been a worse choice back then as they had too much union influence, (we wouldn’t have today’s reformed Labour party without the Tories taking power for almost two decades) but that doesn’t mean the Tories did a good job (TWO recessions!!!!!).

Currently I prefer today’s Labour to today’s Conservative party (they haven’t changed enough from the old Thatcher Tories). Although I make more money than your average working class person I still consider myself working class and know workers rights are not safe in the hands of the Tories. Even though damaging workers rights won’t have an impact on me (I’m self employed) I don’t want to see junior doctors again working 72+ hour shifts again!

Labour brought in the national minimum wage and are talking about a living wage.

David Cameron’s Tories hate the national minimum wage and would allow the Minimum Wage to “melt away”.

“The Minimum Wage won’t be scrapped but it will be allowed to wither on the vine. A series of smaller, more affordable increases will mean it will just melt away.”

The national minimum wage isn’t exactly a high wage, yet the Tories want to reduce it in real terms and make it meaningless!

Under David Cameron’s Tories we’ll never have every working class person on a living wage, it’s not even a Conservative aspiration!
