Election 2010 Political Highlights
This election is not only the first I’ve studied/followed in depth but an interesting one.
It all started at the polling booth with people being turned away, and having the first Green MP elected in the UK, we had some pathetic party election broadcasts like the tediously long Plaid Cymru advert that made me feel like I was in the life of a whiny welsh man at the pub, and the seriously CGI’ed Lib Dem Election Broadcast which had distracting pieces of paper flying about the place and made you forget Nick Clegg was even talking.
But we had some rather uplifting things inside the UK election campaign, like the Labour party Political Broadcast with Eddie Izzard (the best ever!) he put it like it was and gave the Tories a right old telling off :D (which they deserve).
We’ve had bigoted women, microphones left on and a few appearance by former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair.
We’ve had a quite disturbing remark by Ross Kemp that if you go to bed with Nick Clegg you could wake up with David Cameron (frankly I’d rather do neither.)
And we had David ‘posh-boy’ Cameron waffling about Big Society of which most Tory supporters don’t know what Big Society is (even though some supporters were wearing t-shirts with that phrase), and we had Nick Clegg pretending to be Dave by copying his best tactic replaying the same sound bytes.
The media is right on one thing, even after polling is over we’ve casted our votes we don’t know who will ‘win’ the general election, and since it’s a hung parliament we don’t know what party cocktail that will be be mixed and put into power.
I would like to mention that in my opinion (being a political satirist) that a hung parliament is the best for me, there will be another general election down the line and I stay in public demand (also I get to keep making political cartoons).
Sayonara, political friends.
