Most ‘official’ election 2010 opinion polls point to the Conservatives gaining the highest percentage of the popular vote, however the poll on this site with almost 100,000 voters shows the Lib Dems with the highest popular vote. What most recent election polls also show is it’s highly unlikely the Conservatives win the 2010 election with […]

What short memories people have, remember it was Thatcher that said there is “no such thing as society” so as the wind has been sown so we are now reaping the whirlwind. ALL politicians are in it for there own personal aggrandisement, they do not represent the people. They do those things that are best for them and their cronies.
This lunatic aping of all thing American I find sickening and if the Tories do get in the UK will become the 51st state.
As for these volunteers making up the difference with Cameron’s “big society” what a load of drivel.
People get this in to your heads Britain is a very small island off the coast of North East Europe and is of no benefit to the US of A. America does not care about the UK.
A hung parliament is probably the best, it will keep the lunatic Tories and nutty labour party in check!

I do wish poeple would check their facts. Margaret Thatcher did NOT say ‘there is no such thing as society.’ She was saying that ‘there is no such thing as SOCIETY, only people, their families, their communities’. SOCIETY as a monolithic entity. She went on to elaborate her point; that what matters is people and civic life, not systems or bureaucracies or faceless structures. Gordon Brown, with best of intentions no doubt, talks about Big Government – but in practice this means the ‘Nannny State’, remote organisations making us do what they ‘know’ is good for us – like ‘amalgamating’ our local schools, ‘rationalising’ our local hospitals. But government is there to serve the people, not to tell them what’s good for them – please, lets have no more ‘sound bites. Give us the complete quote and lets have intelligent discussions. Neither Labour nor Consrevatives (or anyone else in Parliament) are ‘mad’ – we may not agree always with what politicians say but lets afford them the same courtesy we’d expect oursleves in any disucssion. If democracy is to work, it requires politeness not bile.

I agree with G Knight, love ya mate
D M Evans,
You are the 1st person to put this snippet from Lady T in its proper context; magnificent clarification.
I will never misuse that quote again. You have genuinely educated me.
What a load of old tosh; you must be a wish-washy liberal? The difference between them and Labour is that they smile whilst putting the knife in. Vote Tory and lets get this country back on its feet. good job people like you weren’t around in the second world war, else we’d all be speaking German now.

Don’t kid yourself they all smile while putting the knife in, especially the conservatives. In fact they actually twist it while telling you not to worry, it will be good for us all. I’m not saying the Lib Dems are the answer because there are holes in their policies the size of the Grand Canion, but I would welcome a change in the political system. As for Cameron, I have no idea what he actually plans to do because he seems to change his mind about his plans for office, depending what seems popular (he does however seem to stay consistent on Europe, defense and immigration, but something has to be left that is actually Tory)

If A Petfer had lived through the 1930s as I did he would know that it was a Tory government that temporised with Hitler and the editor of the Tory supporting Daily Mail who thought Hitler the best thing since Genghis Khan. Lord Rothemere highly approved Hitler’s annexation of surrounding states!!
‘.no change there then!!

Yesterday on my way into London I saw a Conservative poster that said something along the lines of “Citizens Service for all 16 year olds”.
What does that mean?
Why has it come out in the last week of an election campaign?
Does anyone understand it?
More of the “never apologise – never explain” politics, it seems!

I believe they will have a hard time undoing the massive damage caused by Labour over the last 13 years
One thing I keep reading, from different sources, is that Cameron is going full throttle to win this election, (power phrasing, not exact quote) he certainly is! However, it seems to me (and I could be wrong) that he contradicts himself on quite a regular basis and half of his pledges either appear to be borrowed from another party, or a contradiction of something that he has previously claimed.
I am aware of the anger over the Brown bigot fiasco but do we think either of these men are likely to tell us publically what they really think? I think not, because people do not want to hear the truth and any politician in his right mind would avoid the almost definite political suicide of doing so. I vote for change, but that does not unavoidably have to involve voting conservative.

So what choice is there? Clegg? never gonna be PM under present system. Probably prop up tired old Brown in a hung parliment – so more of vthec same! (= NO CHANGE!!!!!!!)
What kind of a change will Cameron bring? I’m not convinced! It will be a change alright, (from what we have now) but for the better?!
If you take that view point, that nothing will ever change so there is no point – then what exactly is the point?
I was surprised to see the well coached performance in the prime ministerial debates by Clegg. To have a reality check on his real capabilities, review his lack lustre performances at Prime minister question time. I hope he becomes the second biggest party leader one day. Cameron will destroy him.
Entry into the Euro, immigration amnesty, regional points for immigration, no six month sentences.
Get real and I disagree with Clegg.

Cameron says that his first act if he’s elected is to set up a war cabinet!!
Is it just me or does it see like George Bush is making a comeback in British disguise? endless war, benefits for big banks/big oil/big media/big pharma/big agribusiness/big money before people, christian values, tighter surveillance society in the name of that elusive “security”… how could anyone in their right mind wish to give power to this new George Bush? i know the Labour are horrible, but is that what you wish for yourself and all of us? please think before giving your precious voice to those skillful deceivers

Most parties talk crap, at least Lib Dems have a realistic veiw, are open minded and will look at problems directly instead of pinpointing how to stop after effects, at least Lib Dems are being honest, they are bieng realistic and they’ve got my family, and my friends votes.
The labour party must be gone this week, they have done more damage to this country this time round then they did in the 1970s. Surely by now people must see this. They have allowed mass immigration and had a spend spend soend attitude. I recognsie that there are many of our own people who are disabled, pensioners, unemployed who need help and yes we should provide this to our own . but benefits should not be paid to immigrants. what is wrong when eastern europeans can claim family allowace for kids who are not even in this country. Labour have let this happen and these are things that have made this country go skint. So yes the tories will have to make cuts if they get in cos all of us are going to have to pay for labour cock ups for years. If we dont sort it out now in a few years we could be a third work country. Brown and his cronies including blair should be hung for treason. Oh and i am a working class eastender
