Comment on Election 2010 Conservative Petitions and Banning Fox Hunting by David.

The majority of Conservative MPs support hunting (they voted against the current ban), so if there’s a Conservative majority after May 6th and David Cameron gives a free vote on repealing the hunting ban (and he plans to) they will almost certainly win (that’s if they have a Conservative majority).

It was hard enough getting the ban through in the first place with a clear Labour majority as the Tory members of the House of Lords tried to block it indefinitely (which is undemocratic as it was a Labour manifesto pledge) and the speaker of the house had to use his powers to push it through (that never happens normally, that’s how undemocratic the Tories are on hunting).

I’m sure there are Labour and Lib Dem (and other) MPs that support hunting, but the only party that supports hunting of animals with dogs which has been shown to cause unnecessary pain and suffering to animals (it’s an animal welfare issue) are the Conservatives.

The Conservative MP in my area Mark Simmonds for Boston and Skegness constituency supports hunting and voted against Labours hunting ban.

If we have a

Labour Government
Lib Dem Government
Labour/Lib Dem Coalition government

And possibly a Conservative minority/coalition government.

The hunting ban will remain in place like the vast majority of British people want.

The Conservatives are being undemocratic in even considering going against the people’s wishes on this issue.

The Tories think it’s not important, but it is as the way we treat animals is a reflection of how caring a society is.
