Care for the Elderly

The promise to link the state pension to earnings
is welcomed.

However does this link also apply to the Pre 97 Additional state pension together with the Graduated Retirement Benefit which has now been frozen under Labour??????

Whilst local care for the elderly is a devolved matter for the Scottish Parliament, there is the seperate and important matters of Attendance Allowance (AA) currently worth upto £71.40 per week. This cash element which gives the individual valuable support and freedom of choice is paid on a national basis and remains a Westminster matter.

Its future payment remains very much in doubt following the recent white paper consultations and Labours stated future intentions for its’nanny state.

Your Manifesto promise that AA along with DLA will remain in place must be welcomed by millions and deserves more prominence.
