MP’s were allowed to claim £23,000 a year in expenses (which is a good wage for some people in the UK!!), I find it insulting that David Cameron has taken the high road with regards MP’s expenses when he’s claimed almost the entire £23,000 a year mostly on mortgage interest payments.
Like the majority of MP’s, David Cameron’s expenses fell within the rules**, but the fact is like most MP’s he took full advantage of the system to help acquire an expensive second home and so is no better than any of the other MP’s.
** I also don’t get how clearing wisteria and vines from a chimney, replacing outside lights and resealing his conservatory’s roof helps him do his job as an MP?
Next time I submit a tax return I’ll remember to include our mortgage repayments.
