ID cards are supposedly a way to prove you are who you say you are, but of course they can only do that if you prove your identity in the first place

ID cards do not stop illegal immigration, as proven in other countries.

ID cards are just another idea of this authoritarian government to control us, along with such ideas as the smoking ban, anti-drinking and “junk food” campaigns, replacing hereditary peers with Labour loyalists so they can pass any laws they want, locking us into a undemocratic European superstate without asking us, taking all our money via increasing/introducing taxes etc etc etc
