Outof interest does anyone really care if the BNP are racist? You all act like they’re a serious threat, but in all honesty I’m more likely to win the lottery than they are to form a government (and I don’t even play the lottery).
Fact is there are members of all parties who hold prejudices, whether they admit it or not. Alot of labour voters don’t like ‘posh’ people, alot of conservatives voters think thatthe working class are lazy. Fair enough often prejudices (even racial ones) are not built on absolutely nothing, even if they are simply extreme beliefs based on little evidence. Even some bias against the BNP is baseless! Like most parties they draw members and supporters from all walks of life and backgrounds.
But even so, come on! The BNP are no more threat to UK politics than a Tibetan yak. Getting p****d off at them and throwing names around says more about you than about them.
Whether we like tham or not the BNP is a political party and eligible to be voted for by people who share their views. This is democracy folks, and getting angry about one of the last freedoms we have left (being allowed to vote for whomever we choose) is a waste of time.
Let them have their moment – it won’t last. They’ll never get anything bordering on power and any effect on the policies of the British government. It’ll just be the same old rhetoric every election with the odd vote from people who are irritated by the state of the country and can’t find anyone else to vote for. I’ll wager this is what makes up most of the BNP voters, as most people couldn’t care less about their policies.
To the BNP: think yourself lucky you’re even getting these protest votes!
