Comment on Are the BNP Racists? by David.

BNP Business policies are a joke.

Ignoring your first and last lines Max I agree with you. You do have to be brave in business and when you fail you have to get right back up and try again.

However, what has that got to do with a potential government setting up a business environment that encourages business to thrive in this country and a government that’s stated aims are to stop foreign investment which is a major source of British business funding?

You might not like that foreign money keeps British people in work, but the alternative is mass unemployment.

Do you want a government that encourages business or one that strangles it?

Do you agree with the BNP that foreign investment should stop?

How many reading this work at places like ASDA?

ASDA is owned by Walmart a USA company, if the BNP had their way we (Britain/British people) would some how take over ASDA and make it British owned.

Ignoring the fact that unless we stole ASDA and similar businesses from companies like Walmart there’s not enough money in Britain to pay for them all (the foreign aid budget won’t stretch that far :-)). Even if we did manage to buy them out legally, that means no more investment from those foreign investors into those companies they no longer own.

People working at ASDA will loose their jobs as investment dries up.

We’ve seen how badly governments run big business institutions in the past (railways, coal mines, water companies….) do you honestly believe the BNP have the economic prowess to do any better? Nick Griffin is a bankrupt ex business owner, he almost ruined his rich parents with his business ventures and you want him in charge of the economy!!!!

If you really are a businessman Max, you’d understand foreign investment is important to a country like ours (in fact any country).

The countries that embrace foreign investment have strong, flexible economies (not perfect by any means) and countries that block foreign investment at every turn (like the BNP say they will if they gained power) have stagnant economies and do badly.

Does it really matter who owns ASDA as long as ASDA employs 10s of thousands of British workers?

Yes, it would be great if British entrepreneurs owned businesses like ASDA, but they don’t, so lets make the best of the foreign investment and get as many of our people in work as possible.

China used to be like what the BNP plan to turn this country into (BNP’s economic policies are close to Communism, state owning/running everything they consider important!).

China used to have no foreign investment and their economy was third world and stagnant, although they had full employment, it wasn’t productive full employment. Factories would have a government quota to fill, once that quote was filled they stopped work!

This is not good business, even though they had full employment (people were employed to teach communism in the factories!) there was no reason for workers or businesses to work harder (it was discouraged!), there was nothing to gain personally. This resulted in very low productivity and people went hungry despite having the potential to rival economies like the USA and Europe.

China slowly opened it’s border to foreign investors and the Wests way of doing business was eventually embraced. China no longer has full employment (damn shame they didn’t keep the best of what they had), but with productivity/efficiency and personal profit a major factor in business, the economy started to thrive.

There’s a strong possibility as China’s economy grows it will surpass the USA as an economic force. This is both impressive and a little scary, though I think China has realised the ‘way to take over the world’ is through money.

And the BNP want Britain to become a lot like what China was before they opened their borders to foreign investors, protectionist, inward looking, no foreign investment and it’s people starving!
