According to the Conservative Party website the Conservative Party will try to achieve the following if they gain power at the 2010 general election:
The Conservative Party believes Britain’s interests are best served by membership of a European Union that is an association of its Member States. A Conservative Government would never allow Britain to slide into a federal Europe. The Conservative Party supports an open, flexible Europe, whose priorities should be what really matter to the peoples of Europe: global competitiveness, global poverty and global warming. A Conservative Government would be active and energetic in the EU, promoting Britain’s interest and engaging in the shared challenges all European countries face.
Labour and the Lib Dems promised the British people a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty but broke their promise. Their behaviour was a betrayal of democracy. The Lisbon Treaty has now been absorbed as part of European law and the new posts it created have now been established. They cannot be made to disappear and the Lisbon Treaty cannot now be reversed.
So the Conservative Party has set out a series of measures to deal with the worst problems caused by the Treaty.
A Conservative Government would change the law so that never again would a government be able to agree to a Treaty that hands over areas of power from Britain to the EU without a referendum.
A Conservative Government would also introduce a new law, in the form of a United Kingdom Sovereignty Bill, to make it clear that ultimate authority stays in this country, in our Parliament.
Furthermore, as the Lisbon Treaty contains a mechanism to abolish vetoes and transfer power without the need for a new Treaty, a Conservative Government would change the law so that any use of a so-called ratchet clause would require full approval by Parliament.
These policies deal with future problems, but there are still problems we are facing today, which will now be made worse by the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. These problems boil down to the steady and unaccountable intrusion of the European Union into almost every aspect of our lives.
A Conservative Government will address the worst of these problems by negotiating for three specific guarantees over powers that we believe should reside with Britain, not the EU:
* A full opt-out from the Charter of Fundamental Rights (CFR). Tony Blair told us that he had obtained an opt-out from the CFR, but he did not. As Ministers have subsequently admitted, he only obtained a ‘clarification’ as to how it would apply. We want to upgrade this to a full opt-out so that the CFR, which for instance would interfere with our trade union legislation, cannot be made to apply in Britain.
* Greater protection against EU encroachment into the UK’s Criminal Justice System. Lisbon provides us with an ‘opt-in’ over criminal justice matters but we want broader protection provided by an additional protocol. This would protect against EU judges extending their control over our Criminal Justice System, and we also want to ensure that only British authorities can initiate criminal investigations in Britain.
* Restoration of national control over social and employment legislation. Lastly, we want to restore national control over those parts of social and employment legislation which have proved most damaging to the British economy. For instance, we would seek guarantees over the application of the Working Time Directive in our public services, such as the fire service and the NHS.

I would be interested to hear both positive and negative views on Conservative’s Europe policies in the comments below?
The CONS will do nothing, Cameron has already backed out of giving the British people of a referendum on the EU as it would prove that we want OUT!!
The British people are fed up with the UNELECTED bureaucrats telling us what to do whilst aiding more & more immigrants to come here!
The human rights legislation gives more rights to criminals, especially ethnics, WE WANT OUT NOW!!!

David Cameron writing in the Conservative Party’s ‘European Manifesto,’ 2009.
“The British Conservative Party has long championed EU enlargement. Over the years, successive expansions have helped democracy and free economies take root right across the continent. In recent years, the transition from Soviet totalitarianism took place more smoothly than many imagined possible, thanks to the prospect – now fulfilled – of EU membership for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
But the work is not yet done. The hope of becoming – one day – a member of the EU is encouraging economic and political reform in the post-war Balkans. The prospect of eventual Turkish membership is hugely important – not just for Turkey itself, but to demonstrate to the Muslim world that the EU is not an exclusive Christian club.
Only a decentralised political system will be able to hold Ireland and Turkey, Italy and Estonia in any sort of community.
We cannot and must not allow the prospect of further enlargement to disappear. We must hold out a real prospect of membership to the Western Balkans, to Turkey and Ukraine.”
So there you have it: if the prospect of 80 million Muslims entering Europe and making a bee-line for Britain because we have the most generous benefits system does not appeal to you, you shouldn’t have voted Tory!

Europe is good for the UK we have been involved from day one and should stay involved end of story.
What is it about the EU that is good for us
All of it, we need trade links within the EU and don’t bother giving me all the normal BNP tosh of look at the other countries etc etc seen it all before and not interested in hearing it all again.
I haven’t seen anywhere on this website or any other website where the BNP have put these arguments forward have actually managed to change any voter to the BNP in fact it’s probably turned more away from them, check this weeks council elections for proof of this

We had trade links with other countries before we entered the EU and we can get them again so that is not a valid arguement.
If anything, the Cons and Lab have decimated our nationalised industries and sold them off to foreign countries and the jobs that remain are taken up by foreigners. So much for the benefits of being in the EU

Same old they “They took are Jobs” ….. someone wake me up when a BNP member says something new
Ok Tory Chris
Maybe you can tell me what is so brilliant about the Tories as nobody else seems to have a clue
Like the BNP say to me UKF have you actually read the policies?
You only need to read the BNP stuff to know it’s junk. So try reading the Tory policies although I think it would be wasted anyway as you are obviously so sucked in by the BNP you won’t see any other side anyway.
I have read there policies, but I didn’t ask you about there policies.
I asked you what you thought was so brilliant about the Tories as nobody else seems to have a clue, because I as far as I am concerned they are not worth the paper they are written on.
So please educate me as I am obviously missing something.
What is so brilliant about the Tories

Ah what you really mean is you can’t find anything to argue about in them …. so you try a different tack?
Well lets just say EVERYONE with a brain knows that we need to deal with the Debt we have in this country and the Tory policies (harsh YES) need to be enacted in order to get that debt down, the BNP website has no policy on debt reduction in the policy section.
But rather than waste my time trying to convert the sucked in that will do because the X Factor is more interesting than talking to BNP supporters

There is a big difference between trading with EU countries and giving away your Sovereignty.
https://bnp.org.uk/policies/foreign-affairs/
British foreign policy must be driven by one guiding principle alone – to serve British interests above all else. This iron principle will be strictly enforced by a British National Party government.
In reality, this means that Britain’s foreign relations should be determined by the protection of our own national interests – and not by our like or dislike of other nations’ internal politics.

The generous benefit system was put in place by the labour govt. Finally we will be able to start limiting the endles payouts to the lazy, destructive non-english population that has polluted our country for over a decade. Bring back Thatcher, bring back Major, big up Cameron and Hague. This country needs to start giving the population paying for it the right to speak! Stay with Europe but let the English keep our sovereignty and not hand it over to the foreigners that now claim assylum in our country!
Kind Regards
The Hon. H Gibbs
Big up the TORIES
we want a referendum as promised by the lier’s thieves in gov and the Tory’s. Give us our choice
“Tory Chris”, we , the British, have not been involved in the EU, which was then the EEC, formed in 1951, since day one! When we did try to join later in the 60’s, De Gaulle did not want Britain in! Ted Heath finally went cap in hand and got us in in 1973! Before that we concentrated on trading with the rest of the world especially the old Commonwealth!
The EU has changed from being a trading partnership to attempting to become one big federal state, totally controlling all the member states! Most people in this country & in many other European states, are very wary of that, believing it is diluting our sovereignty by, amongst other things, permitting too many immigrants to have free access to us! It has foisted innumerable new laws & regulations on us, including the ludicrous “human rights” legislation, which gives more prominence to the criminal’s right’s than to the victims! We pay Billions more in than we get out, for what? To help former soviet states attract multi national companies to move their manufacturing plants away from Britain, taking the jobs with them! To allow hordes of criminal Rumanian & slovakian gipsies to descend en masse and claim full benefits from our gullible councils! To potentially open our borders to yet another 70 million muslims from Turkey when they join!

Is that such a good thing for British workers?
The Working Time Directive offers protection to workers that the average British person would want protecting.
When it was left to British governments to protect British workers from unrealistic working conditions we had doctors working in the NHS for 72 hour stretches under the Conservatives which is not good for the doctors, the patients or the NHS!
We can not bring back working conditions that allow people to work unrealistically long hours with no recourse in law. This works both ways, it protects workers from unscrupulous employers and from themselves, for example look at lorry drivers that are required by law to take regular breaks, if it was left to them to decide some would miss those breaks and that wouldn’t be as safe.
These types of Conservative policies really concern me of how workers will be treated under a Conservative government. I know the Conservatives care about business (the employers), but do they care about the workers as well?

I do have to agree on the Working Time Directive point, it has offered a lot of protection to British workers and early last year it offered the same protection to the NHS who where previously excluded from the WTD.
It should remain in place and the Conservatives should basically invest in training and teaching British people who want to become doctors/nurses etc and not let them have to take out loans etc to train it should be funded.
But the state of the economy may not allow any incoming Gov to fund this type of bill, but the NHS should remain protected by the WTD.
