According to the UK Independence Party website UKIP will try to achieve the following if they gain power at the 2010 general election:
7.1 In the UK, the officially recorded population has increased from 50 million in 1960 to about 61 million today, and is rising rapidly. The UK has over twice the population density of France, three times that of Spain, eight times that of the United States, and twelve times that of Sweden. Adequate energy supply and environmental improvement will be made difficult without a reduction in population growth.
7.2 Recent rapid population growth in the UK is almost entirely due to immigration. We now have no control over people moving here from other countries in the European Union. The Department supposedly monitoring and controlling immigration has few reliable statistics. A senior civil servant recently told a Commons Select Committee that he ‘hadn’t any idea’ how many people had come into Britain as immigrants.
7.3 World population has risen from 3 billion in 1960, to nearly 7 billion now, and is heading towards 9 billion within 30 years. In China and India per capita energy use will increase several times over as people seek to exchange simple rural ways of living for western style affluence, and as these countries increasingly dominate global manufacturing. In China two more coal-powered power stations are starting up every week.

To control the growth of population why not abolish child benefit. Surely if people want children they should pay for them themselves. Why should the tax payer support all the children born of young single mums who only want a house and the money. This would stop unwanted pregancies. Don’t say that you can’t have children, just that you must pay for them. I fully support people wanting children but why should I pay for them.
Also, get people back to work. I see so many people scrounging off the state when they could so easily be working. Stop benefits after so long, make people earn the benefits by doing community work and plough the monies into low salaries instead of allowing people to laze around. Allow people to still claim the benefits if they are working and earning low money. In a lot of cases people are better off not working, this needs amending.

A most sensible comment. If you want children, you pay for them.
As a single hard working man, never married, no illegimate offspring, not
gay, my reasonable salary marginally covers the monthly domestic necessities.
Each day I witness the spongers, the baby factories with their buggies and mobiles (you overhear them on the bus saying ‘it’s child benefit day’, so they’re
away to the pub/bingo etc, if so and so will ‘mind the bairn’, it’s a disgrace.
My mentally handicapped brother can no longer attend his day centre because he is described as ‘not disabled enough’. The resources have been drained by these parasites.
Stop child benefit altogether. My apologies to Greggs, off-licences, all the mobile phone companies and any other ‘must have’ twaddle suppliers out there.
