Should GP’s Take Over the NHS Budget?
The NHS has set aside £1.7bn for reform and reorganisation, more than seven times the amount it aims to save.
This money will help pave the way for GP’s to take over of the budget from managers in hospitals.
NHS Boss Sir David Nicholas said it was to ‘kick-start’ the process. But Unions voiced concern that budgets would spiral out of control because of the new management from GP’s.
Hmmm… this is a little too much cost for my liking, didn’t the health secretary Andrew Lansley say it would save money, then why is it costing £1.7bn to switch management from managers to GP’s. I just don’t get the point why it would cost so much.
I’m also a little iffy on the fact that their letting General Practitioners take over the £105bn Budget. To put it bluntly; in the public eye MOST GP’s aren’t the brightest bulbs in the box (no offence) and most aren’t trusted enough to care for their patients let alone the the NHS Budget, I don’t know how this will work.
I’m not too sure if Andrew Lansley knows what he’s doing this idea looks a little half-baked from my perspective, but as I’ve said many times before; we can’t tell what will really happen until it is put into action… I just hope it works as well as the Health Secretary says it will.
