Since the recent Cumbria shootings and the incidents with gunman Raoul Moat, some say that if police were allowed to carry guns then they would have been able to stop people like the Cumbrian gunman Derrick Bird from killing and injuring others.
This is a subject of fierce debate, some believe that if police officers should have firearms so they can stop serious situations immediately without armed teams having to travel to get to a reported incident.
But some say that putting more weapons on the street (even in the hands of police) will do more harm than good.

Police must be able to defend them selfs,we have in the UK have a new form of crimial, based on ,the gang mind set,this gang can be the bankers in London, or ethic gangs, we need tough laws to deal with both,cat of nine tails , or the ratan, as in Sinapore.We need to deal with both vire expulsion, since the right to exist in a state , exists only to the citisens,=( thouse, that are willing to lay down, their lives to defend the city state)Greek thought from 3000 years ago.This excludes 955 of the people in the UK,they do not have the right ,since they have not proved their right , they have the privlege, not the same thing.

I think all police in the uk should carry guns and there should also be a stool to kill policy with the police because if a bank robber go in to a bank with a gun there are not going to shoot in the leg but there are going to kill so many police office have been killed in the past the police need guns

YES!!!!! police need to up their game because of all these damn murders on the telly every 5 mins! its stupid the government is not depolying sidearms to officers even though other european countries laugh at the uk because of the fact that police havent got any guns. this makes us an even more likely target for terrorists. IM TELLING YOU that if police were armed you would not hear another squeak out of terrorists or criminals.
